How to Prevent Hemorrhoids from Reoccurring

Hemorrhoids can be painful.  Ask anyone who has experienced and dealt with them before.  But once you have taken care of them, you want to ensure that they don't come back again.  There are a few things you can do to help ensure that your hemorrhoids do not continue to reoccur.

First, it is important that you continually move.  Do not sit for long periods of time, whether it is at an office desk or on the toilet.  This means no reading material when you are defecating, and making this simple change in itself can help battle hemorrhoids alone.  You can also incorporate daily exercise to keep moving and keep active, which is a good habit to start if you haven't already.  Your body will thank you!

INCREASE YOUR FIBER INTAKE, unless contraindicated with a preexisting medical problem. Ensure that you have a healthy amount of fiber in your diet to help you avoid reoccurring hemorrhoid issues.  This means getting fiber from healthy diet sources such as cereals, grains, nuts, and fruits and vegetables.  But be sure to add fiber to your diet slowly by gradually increasing your fiber intake over time.

It is important that you also drink a lot of water to keep from becoming constipated.  Drinking lots of water is not only good for you, but can help keep your bowels loose and softer, which in turns makes it easier for you to pass without straining.

And as with any part of the body, make sure you keep the anal area clean and dry.  This can be done with gentle body wash in the shower or bath to ensure the area does not get irritated.

These are just a few ways to keep any hemorrhoid issues under control.  While these may not guarantee your hemorrhoids won't be an issue at a later time, they may help reduce how often the occur or keep them from getting worse than they have been in the past.
